The only thing that worked
Steven D. Chapman (St. Louis, MO) 1/25/2011 10:41 AM
I'm a paraplegic and had a pressure wound which would not heal. After months of different ointments (panafil, xendaderm, some others), a wound specialist recommended in her words "a collagen dressing". This is what was ordered. My insurance didn't cover it so I had to pony up the cash. But boy am I glad I did. We left it on for 2-3 days between dressings and the wound immediately started to improve. After a few weeks it was completely closed. This is now my go-to product for any decubitus ulcers.

Who should use Prisma
Jennifer M. Rellick (Alexandria, VA) 1/25/2011 10:40 AM
This disolving bandage was recommended to me by a wound specialist physician to heal a recurrent skin-fold wound that wouldn't close. After a daily bath, the patient cuts the pad into a little sliver that just covers the wound, and then puts a gauze or a soft absorbant bandandage over it. The Prisma disolves over a 24-hour period, and my wounds usually close after 4-7 days if I catch them right away. Each wound causes me to go through about one pad, and the doctor says it is not to be used preventatively. The product continues to do its majic each time I get the wound. It is not a prescription item, so my insurance doesn't cover it. My flexible spending account covers it.
