I was first given an AirCast by a doctor for a worker's comp sprained ankle. I wore it about 6 weeks and then again whenever I was going to be walking on rough terrain, which I do in my work. After 4 years, it wore out and my sister gave me her hand-me-down (she'd had a broken ankle). 2 years later and it's starting to wear out. The aircast is generally comfortable but I had to buy boy's baseball socks to wear under it because it kept rubbing my skin when I'd walk. Don't wear it longer than you absolutely have to because the muscles will start to atrophy in your foot and lower leg.
